Aquaman: New Synopsis Confirms Nicole Kidman

A couple of years ago, nobody would have thought that DC and Warner Bros would make an Aquaman movie. Fast forward to now, and you might still see a couple of nonbelievers who doubt the project, mainly because the DCEU is in such a shaky state. Nonetheless, Aquaman is being made, and the cast and crew - especially Jason Momoa - seem to be having a blast working on it.

With a late 2018 scheduled release date, not much is known about the flick at this point. Sure, we've learned that both Black Manta and Ocean Master will appear in Aquaman, with possible teases - or even an appearance - from The Trench. Amber Heard was announced as Mera quite a while ago, and Willem Dafoe is set to portray Nuidis Vulko.

More recent rumors said that Nicole Kidman would also make an appearance as Atlanna, Arthur Curry’s mother. The most recent movie synopsis confirms those rumors, via Acting Auditions:

Aquaman will center on Aquaman as a reluctant ruler of the underwater kingdom of Atlantis who is caught between land dwellers that are always polluting the globe and his own people who are ready to invade the surface. Screen Actors Guild Award nominee Jason Momoa will play Aquaman. Also starring is Academy Award winner Nicole Kidman as Atlanna, Hollywood Film Awards winner Amber Heard as Mera, two-time Academy Award nominee Willem Dafoe as Nuidis Vulko, two-time Golden Globe Award nominee Patrick Wilson as Orm/Ocean Master, New Zealand Film and TV Awards winner Temuera Morrison as Thomas Curry, and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as Black Manta.

Two-time Hollywood Film Awards winner James Wan will direct Aquaman from a screenplay written by Will Beall, based on a treatment by Wan and DC Entertainment President Geoff Johns. Albert Cho is 1st AD. Producers are Jon Berg, Geoff Johns, Peter Safran, Deborah Snyder, and Zack Snyder. Rob Cowan will serve as executive producer.

As you can see, Aquaman has to deal with the land-dwellers on top of having to face two of his mightiest enemies. Could this mean that a connection to the Man of Steel destruction will be made? We’ll wait and see.
