Initially, the role of the antagonist was supposed to be played by Thanos. However, in Joss Whedon's words, "Thanos is not out of the mix, but Thanos was never meant to be the next villain – he’s always been the overlord of villainy and darkness".

2. Other villains might make an appearance

While Ultron is the lead antagonist, Loki and Thanos might make an appearance. All trailers released so far feature neither Loki nor Thanos. But keep an open mind and expect some surprises.

3. The film twists the origins of Ultron

According to the comic book, Dr. Hank Pym is the creator of Ultron. However, in the movie, Ultron is pulled off as a creation of Tony Stark: a dormant project that goes south, turning against the team.

4. Avengers 2 sees the debut of the Vision

Vision is one of the most controversial characters to be featured in Avengers: Age of Ultron. While details are not known yet, speculations have it the Vision is an upgrade of J.A.R.V.I.S. fathered by none other than Ultron himself. When asked about it, Paul Bettany aired nothing out.

5. Trailers so far

Up until now, 3 trailers were released: two back in October 2014, and one on January 12th. Watch them and refresh your memory:

Official teaser trailer released on October 22nd, 2014:

Special look released on October 28th, 2014:

Latest trailer released on January 12th, 2015:

Bonus: Ultron - a sentient machine with an Oedipus complex

Ultron envisages an evolutionary program he can materialize only by bringing organic life to an end. This form of "justice" is driven by a sort of Oedipus complex conveyed in the words of Pinocchio: Ultron recites No Strings On Me, as if to reaffirm his autonomy and independence from creator Tony Stark.

So, there you are. This is the list of must-knows. Chances are information will continue to pile up until May 1st. Stay tuned, we'll keep you posted.
