Apologies to DC fans who have been looking forward to Gotham Knights. The upcoming video game has been delayed by Warner Bros. It is now set to arrive sometime in 2022. It had previously been announced for a 2021 release.

Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment had this to say in a statement.
“We are giving the game more time to deliver the best possible experience for players. Thank you to our amazing fans for your tremendous support of Gotham Knights. We look forward to showcasing more of the game in the coming months.”
Gotham Knights is being planned as a cross-gen title. That means it will be available for the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, PC, Xbox One and Xbox Series X. Sorry to Nintendo Switch owners who are, once again, losing out on a major title. That is, unless the much-rumored, more powerful version of the Switch does indeed arrive later this year.
The game was originally announced at last year’s DC FanDome event. It will take place in the same universe as the Batman: Arkham games. Only, this time, Batman isn’t around and it’s up to a younger generation of heroes to protect Gotham City. Specifically, Batgirl, Nightwing, Red Hood and Robin.
Here is the synopsis for Gotham Knights.
“Batman is dead. A new expansive, criminal underworld has swept the streets of Gotham City. It is now up to the Batman Family; Batgirl, Nightwing, Red Hood, and Robin; to protect Gotham, bring hope to its citizens, discipline to its cops, and fear to its criminals. From solving mysteries that connect the darkest chapters in the city’s history to defeating notorious villains in epic confrontations, you must evolve into the new Dark Knight and save the streets from descent into chaos.”
“Gotham Knights is an open-world, action RPG set in the most dynamic and interactive Gotham City yet. In either solo-play or with one other hero, patrol Gotham’s five distinct boroughs and drop in on criminal activity wherever you find it,” the developer says of the upcoming video game.
This is one of a couple of huge DC video games titles Warner Bros. currently has in the works. The studio is also gearing up for Sucide Squad: Kill the Justice League, which was also revealed at DC FanDome. That game is also currently expected to arrive sometime in 2022. It remains unclear if the Gotham Knights delay will affect those plans.
