Marvel’s Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 3 Trailer Officially Released

The end of an era is nearly upon us. Marvel Studios has revealed the first teaser trailer for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. This is set to conclude director James Gunn’s trilogy in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which kicked off back in 2014. But before that time comes, Star-Lord and the gang have one last, massive adventure in them. And it looks like it’s going to be an emotional ride.

It’s a teaser trailer that doesn’t give much of the story away. It does, however, give us a lot to process. We see baby Rocket, a more grown up Groot, the High Evolutionary, and our first look at Adam Warlock. This is a slightly different trailer than the one that played at San Diego Comic-Con over the summer. For one thing, this version has Spacehog’s “In the Meantime” as the music bed. The one at SDCC featured “Do you realize?” by The Flaming Lips.

Here is the synopsis for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.

“In Marvel Studios Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 our beloved band of misfits are looking a bit different these days. Peter Quill, still reeling from the loss of Gamora, must rally his team around him to defend the universe along with protecting one of their own. A mission that, if not completed successfully, could quite possibly lead to the end of the Guardians as we know them.”

Gunn writes and directs the film. The cast includes Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Karen Gillan, Sean Gunn, Chukwudi Iwuji, Will Poulter and Maria Bakalova and Pom Klementieff, with Vin Diesel as Groot, and Bradley Cooper as Rocket. Kevin Feige is the producer, with Louis D’Esposito, Victoria Alonso, Nikolas Korda, Simon Hatt and Sara Smith serving as executive producers.

Meanwhile, this is probably the end of the line for Gunn and Marvel. The filmmaker recently took over as the co-head of DC Studios. After making The Suicide Squad and Peacemaker, he developed a relationship with Warner Bros. Now, he’s going to be heading up all of DC. But that means he’s exclusive to DC for at least the next four years. But before that fully kicks in, he gets to finish the trilogy he started nearly a decade ago.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is set to hit theaters on May 5, 2023.
