It’s officially official: Adam Warlock is coming to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. As reported by Variety, Will Poulter (We’re the Millers, The Revenant) has been cast as the character in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. To further confirm the news, director James Gunn took to Twitter to firm this up.

Poulter later replied the to tweet, expressing his gratitude and excitement.

Fans have long awaited the arrival of Adam Warlock. His debut was teased in a post-credits scene attached to Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. However, his inclusion in the upcoming sequel was not confirmed until this casting was made public.

Created by the Enclave to be part of a race of super humans who would abolish war, illness, and crime, Adam Warlock is a unique being who uses his immense and formidable powers to safeguard the universe.
Gunn wrote and will direct Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. The filmmaker served in the same capacity on the previous two movies as well. Gunn is coming off of DC’s The Suicidie Squad, as well as Peacemaker, which arrives on HBO Max in January. Filming is expected to begin in November.
Poulter has appeared in franchises such as The Maze Runner and The Chronicles of Narnia. Some of his other credits include Dopesick, Midsommar and the acclaimed drama Detroit. It is likely that his appearance in GOTG3 will open the door for future appearances in the MCU. Though that is somewhat speculative at this point.
Plot details for the sequel currently remain under wraps. The entire core cast from the previous installments will return. This includes Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Karen Gillan, Pom Klementieff, Sean Gunn, Bradley Cooper and Vin Diesel. We will likely hear more about casting for new roles as cameras get ready to roll in the coming weeks.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is set to hit theaters on May 5, 2023.
