DC League of Super-Pets Trailer Released by Warner Bros.

Heads up, DC fans as we’ve got a teaser for you. Warner Bros. has released the trailer for DC League of Super-Pets. The upcoming family-friendly animated flick stars Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson in the lead role as Krypto the Super-Dog. Yes, The Rock is pulling double DC duty, as he’s also starring in the long-awaited Black Adam next year. But first, we’ll see him as Superman’s trusty canine companion. Have a look.

As we can see, much of the trailer focuses on Krypto and Superman’s relationship. The man of Steel is being voiced by John Krasinski of The Office fame. Though it looks like he will be taking a backseat, with the animals front-and-center. We also see that Superman’s arch-nemesis Lex Luthor is going to be featured prominently. This has some strong “The Secret Life of Pets” vibes to it. Though these pets all have superpowers.

Here is the synopsis for DC League of Super-Pets.

“In ‘DC League of Super-Pets,’ Krypto the Super-Dog and Superman are inseparable best friends, sharing the same superpowers and fighting crime in Metropolis side by side. When Superman and the rest of the Justice League are kidnapped, Krypto must convince a rag-tag shelter pack—Ace the hound, PB the potbellied pig, Merton the turtle and Chip the squirrel—to master their own newfound powers and help him rescue the superheroes.”

The loaded down voice cast also includes Kevin Hart (Secret Life of Pets) as Ace the Batdog, as well as Kate McKinnon (Saturday Night Live), Vanessa Bayer (Trainwreck), Natasha Lyonne (Ballmastrz 9009), and Diego Luna (Rogue One: A Star Wars Story). Marc Maron (Joker), Thomas Middleditch (Godzilla: King of the Monsters), Ben Schwartz (Sonic the Hedgehog), and Keanu Reeves (John Wick) round out the main ensemble.

Jared Stern (The LEGO Movie) is making his animated feature directorial debut, working from a screenplay he wrote alongside John Whittington. The film is produced by Patricia Hicks,  Johnson, Dany Garcia, Hiram Garcia, and Stern. John Requa, Glenn Ficarra, Nicholas Stoller, Allison Abbate, Chris Leahy, Sharon Taylor, and Courtenay Valenti serve as executive producers.

This is just one of several DC movies coming our way next year. Aside from Black Adam, we also have The Flash solo movie to look forward to. Not only that, but Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom is also on deck for December 2022. It should prove to be a big year for DC fans.

DC League of Super-Pets hits theaters on May 20, 2022.
