PSA: Gotham Knights Has Finally Been Released

After being announced more than two years ago, the time has finally come to step into the Bat-Family’s shoes for a brand new adventure. The long-awaited Gotham Knights video game has finally arrived from Warner Bros. Games after suffering several delays since being announced at DC FanDome in 2020. So, those who have had a hole in their hearts since the Batman: Arkham games ended may finally have something to help fill it.

The game is available for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S and PC. Unfortunately, it will not be available for the PlayStation 4 or Xbox One. We are at the point in the new console cycle that developers are fully embracing next-gen gaming. As such, those who have been hesitant to upgrade may start losing out on new games. This is almost certainly going to be a broader trend in the industry.

Here is the synopsis for Gotham Knights.

“Batman is dead. A new expansive, criminal underworld has swept the streets of Gotham City. It is now up to the Batman Family; Batgirl, Nightwing, Red Hood, and Robin; to protect Gotham, bring hope to its citizens, discipline to its cops, and fear to its criminals. From solving mysteries that connect the darkest chapters in the city’s history to defeating notorious villains in epic confrontations, you must evolve into the new Dark Knight and save the streets from descent into chaos. Gotham Knights is an open-world, action RPG set in the most dynamic and interactive Gotham City yet. In either solo-play or with one other hero, patrol Gotham’s five distinct boroughs and drop in on criminal activity wherever you find it.”

As far as pricing goes, publishers are also embracing inflation. Gotham Knights retails for $69.99, and that’s the standard edition. For years, new AAA games have hovered around the $59.99 price point, but that is changing as well. The Deluxe Edition of the game is $89.99 and includes the base game and Visionary Pack DLC. It also comes with exclusive gear, cosmetics, Beyond Suitstyle character skins inspired by the Batman Beyond animated series and more. Lastly, the Collector’s Edition runs $299.99 and comes with everything in the Deluxe Edition, as well as an augmented reality collectable pin, 16-page media book, exclusive Gotham City map, four-character statue diorama and more.

Batgirl is voiced by America Young, Nightwing is Christopher Sean, Robin is Sloane Morgane Siegel, Red Hood is Stephen Oyoung and Alfred is Gildart Jackson. There are many, many villains in the game as well, including Mr. Freeze, Harley Quinn, Clayface and the Court of Owls. Meanwhile, The CW also has a show titled Gotham Knights that is set to premiere next year. However, it is not connected to the game, even if the premise is similar.

Gotham Knights is available now.
