A brand new DC animated movie is set to make its debut on HBO Max in January. Batman and Superman: Battle of the Super Sons has been announced as part of the streaming service’s lineup next month. While the movie arrived on VOD on Blu-ray earlier this year, it will finally be available to stream very soon. So get ready for some Young Justice-like action.

The film will arrive on HBO Max come January 1. The news was revealed as part of the streamer’s monthly update regarding what is joining and leaving the service. These DC animated movies are a very regular thing. Warner Bros produces several of them annually. But with HBO Max, they all finally have a convenient streaming home, making it much easier on many viewers.

Here is the synopsis for Batman and Superman: Battle of the Super Sons.

“Batman and Superman: Battle of the Super Sons begins as 11-year-old Jonathan Kent discovers he has superpowers, thrusting the half-Kryptonian into the complicated world of Super Heroes and Super-Villains – who are now under attack by a malevolent alien force known as Starro! It’s a race against time as Jonathan must join forces with assassin-turned-Boy-Wonder Damian Wayne to rescue their fathers (Superman & Batman) and save the planet by becoming the Super Sons they were destined to be!”

The cast is led by Jack Dylan Glazer (Shazam!) and Jack Griffo (The Thundermans) as Jonathan Kent and Damian Wayne, respectively. The cast also includes Troy Baker (Batman: The Long Halloween) as Batman/Bruce Wayne, Travis Willingham (Critical Role) as Superman/Clark Kent, Laura Bailey (The Legend of Vox Machina) as Lois Lane, Darin De Paul (Mortal Kombat Legends: Scorpion’s Revenge) as Lex Luthor & Starro, Tom Kenny (SpongeBob SquarePants) as Green Arrow & Penguin, Zeno Robinson (Pokémon) as Jimmy Olsen & Melvin Masters, Nolan North (Young Justice) as Jor-El and Myrna Velasco (DC Super Hero Girls) as Wonder Girl & Lara.

Matt Peters (Justice League Dark: Apokolips War) directs the movie, working from a script by Jeremy Adams (Mortal Kombat Legends). Jim Krieg (Batman: Gotham By Gaslight) is on board as a producer, with Rick Morales (Injustice, Batman: Return of the Caped Crusaders) as the supervising producer, as well as Michael Uslan and Sam Register as executive producers.

As for 2023, several DC animated movies have already been announced. We’ve got Batman: The Doom That Came to Gotham, The Legion of Super-Heroes, Justice League: Warworld, RWBY/Justice League and Batman Azteca all on deck. So be on the lookout for those as well in the coming months.

Batman and Superman: Battle of the Super Sons arrives on HBO Max on January 1.
