Michael Keaton In Talks to Reprise Batman Role in The Flash Solo Movie - Daily Superheroes - Your daily dose of Superheroes news

Michael Keaton In Talks to Reprise Batman Role in The Flash Solo Movie

Michael Keaton is in talks to return as Batman. As reported by The Wrap, Keaton is currently in negotiations to reprise his role as the iconic DC superhero in The Flash solo movie. The project has been in development for years and will reportedly be based on the beloved Flashpoint storyline. This will allow for Keaton to make an unlikely return to arguably his most famous role.

Reports currently caution that the actor is only in talks at this point at that nothing is certain. Should the deal close, however, it is expected that Michael Keaton will be set to appear in multiple DC movies. It is also said that Keaton’s Batman will be picking up where he left off after Batman Returns.

The idea seems to be that Warner Bros. and DC Films are going to experiment with the multiverse more. Flashpoint will allow for that, as the story deals with alternate timelines. We also have already established that the DC multiverse exists. Ezra Miller, who stars as The Flash in the DCEU, appeared in the Crisis on Infinite Earths Arrowverse crossover event alongside Grant Gustin.

Plot details for the film are largely being kept under wraps for the time being. The solo film has been in development for years, with multiple filmmakers and writers attached at various points. Andy Muschietti, known best for his work on IT and IT Chapter Two, is currently on board to direct.

[The movie will be a] different version of Flashpoint than you’re expecting,” Muschietti said recently in an interview with CinemaBlend.

For those who may not be familiar, here is a synopsis for DC’s Flashpoint.

“When Barry Allen wakes at his desk, he discovers the world has changed. Family is alive, loved ones are strangers, and close friends are different, gone or worse. It’s a world on the brink of a cataclysmic war – but where are Earth’s Greatest Heroes to stop it? It’s a place where America’s last hope is Cyborg, who hopes to gather the forces of The Outsider, The Secret 7, S!H!A!Z!A!M!, Citizen Cold and other new and familiar-yet-altered faces! It’s a world that could be running out of time, if The Flash can’t find the villain who altered the time line!”

The Flash solo movie is currently set to hit theaters on June 3, 2022.
