Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 7 Trailer Teases the Return of Hydra

It is time to say hail Hydra once again. Marvel and ABC have released a brand new teaser for Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. season 7, which teased the return of the evil organization. For now, we are left with more questions than answers, but this is an intriguing set up nonetheless. Have a look.

“They need to change the past to rescue the future,” the caption reads. As had been previously revealed, the S.H.I.E.L.D. gang will be travelling back in time for the show’s final season. That will present them with interesting opportunities to revisit various points in Marvel Cinematic Universe history. Specifically, in this case, Hydra.

The events of Captain America: The Winter Soldier revealed that Hydra had infiltrated S.H.I.E.L.D. in a big, bad way. That ended up having a big impact on the events in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. as well. Ultimately, Hydra was, so far as we know, eradicated. But heading back in time changes that for Agent Coulsen and his crew.

It was announced by ABC and Marvel that season 7 would be the show’s last. The series has been on the air since 2013. The cast includes Clark Gregg, Ming-Na Wen, Chloe Bennet, Elizabeth Henstridge, Iain De Caestecker, Henry Simmons, Natalia Cordova-Buckley and Jeff Ward.

“I can say we are back in time, so we have to get… back to where we were,” Bennet said in a previous interview with Digital Spy. “So that means travelling through a bunch of different time periods and who knows who we see on the way back, if we even get back… Season 4 and season 7 are definitely my favourite seasons of SHIELD.”

Here is the synopsis for Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

“After Agent Coulson and the team escaped the Framework and awakened back in the real world, they battled L.M.D. (Life Model Decoy) AIDA who had become fully human – and given herself multiple Inhuman abilities. After defeating AIDA with the help of Ghost Rider, the team went to a diner to celebrate but were interrupted by a mysterious man who rendered them frozen. Later, Coulson woke up onboard a station… in space. Coulson will discover that some, but not all, of his S.H.I.E.L.D. colleagues were taken with him and placed onboard a space station. As they come into contact with the vessel’s inhabitants, it becomes abundantly clear that something has gone terribly awry. The team must figure out their role, delving deeper into this nightmarish mystery to try to right what has gone incredibly wrong.”

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. season 7 premieres on May 27 on ABC.
