Warner Bros. has released a brand new trailer for The Flash movie. The footage dropped during the Super Bowl, ensuring that the eyes of the world were on this long-awaited film. Admittedly, this one has had a troubled road to release. Aside from lots of development issues, its Star Ezra Miller has had lots of highly public trouble. Be that as it may, the film is finally set to arrive in theaters this summer. It will bring with it a trip through the DC multiverse, as well as multiple versions of Batman.
As we can see, this is going to serve as a very loose adaptation of the Flashpoint storyline. The idea is that this will help reset the DC Universe, teeing up the ball for James Gunn and Peter Safran’s new slate of projects. We also get a good amount of Michael Keaton returning as Batman. This is the first time he’s suited up since 1992’s Batman Returns. Additionally, Ben Affleck returns as his Batman as well. Not to mention some other surprise appearances, including our new Supergirl, played by Sasha Calle.
Here is the synopsis for The Flash.
“Worlds collide in The Flash when Barry uses his superpowers to travel back in time in order to change the events of the past. But when his attempt to save his family inadvertently alters the future, Barry becomes trapped in a reality in which General Zod has returned, threatening annihilation, and there are no Super Heroes to turn to. That is, unless Barry can coax a very different Batman out of retirement and rescue an imprisoned Kryptonian… albeit not the one he’s looking for. Ultimately, to save the world that he is in and return to the future that he knows, Barry’s only hope is to race for his life. But will making the ultimate sacrifice be enough to reset the universe?”
The cast includes Sasha Calle (The Young and the Restless), Michael Shannon (Bullet Train, Man of Steel), Ron Livingston (Loudermilk, The Conjuring), Ben Affleck (Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice), Maribel Verdu (Elite, Y tu mamá también), Kiersey Clemons (Zack Snyder’s Justice League, Sweetheart), Antje Traue (King of Ravens, Man of Steel) and Michael Keaton (Spider-Man: Homecoming, Batman).
Christina Hodson (Birds of Prey, Bumblebee) penned the screenplay. John Francis Daley, Jonathan Goldstein (Game Night, Spider-Man: Homecoming) and Joby Harold (Transformers: Rise of the Beasts, Army of the Dead) cooked up the story. Barbara Muschietti (IT, Mama) and Michael Disco (Rampage, San Andreas) are on board as producers, with Toby Emmerich, Walter Hamada, Galen Vaisman and Marianne Jenkins serving as executive producers.
The Flash hits theaters on June 16.
