Will Deakins change the iconic scene of the movie?

“The original was wonderfully shot, but to me, the most powerful thing about the original film is the death of, what’s the actor’s name… Rutger Hauer’s death in the rain with the white pigeon. And then you watch the documentary about the making of the film and realize that was all something that was kind of created on the day.”

With 12 Oscar nominations, a career in movies that exceeds four decades and a list of impressive movies he has worked on, Roger Deakins is with no doubt one of the finest cinematographers in the business.  When Denis Villeneuve proposed him this project, Deakins didn’t blink, he immediately accepted:

“I’ve always wanted to do a science-fiction film, but the things I’ve been asked to do, I consider more science-fantasy, not science-fiction. Obviously the original Blade Runner is such an iconic movie, so, to work with Denis (Villeneuve) again, but also on that, God, yeah.” (via Collider)

He refers to Blade Runner as to his first science-fiction movie, and he is very excited to work with Villeneuve on it. As we’ve mentioned, Harrison Ford will be again in the iconic role of Rick Deckard and Villeneuve revealed that Blade Runner 2 will pull the curtains off the big mystery: is Rick Deckard a Replicant or not?
