What is the approach for Blade Runner 2?

Except the fact the new story will take place some years after the first film concluded, there are not many other details known yet, but we already have official statements about the visual side of Blade Runner 2. And since Roger Deakins is in charge with this aspect, he talked to Collider about how wonderful the original movie is, but at the same time about a Blade Runner 2 that stands for itself, different from all points of view from the original:

“I think the look of the film is an organic process. You don’t just look at the script and it comes in your head. While I think the original film is wonderful, this is not the original film… visually it doesn’t have to be anything like the original. It has to stand by itself, and its particular script and its particular story.”

After such statement, it is clear that Blade Runner 2 will be a lot different from the original, at least from the visual point of view.
