A concept art piece for Thor: Ragnarok that was shown at last year’s San Diego Comic-Con International indicated that Surtur would appear in the movie. At this year’s SDCC, the Marvel panel confirmed that with a brand new trailer for the November 3, 2017 release that offered a first look at the fire demon.
In the two-and-a-half-minute trailer, Surtur briefly showed up toward the end as Mark Ruffalo's Hulk leapt at him. And that shot was just one of many mind-blowing moments in the new trailer.
The trailer also provided a glimpse of Korg from the Planet Hulk story arc. Director Taika Waititi had confirmed his appearance in the movie earlier this year, so this wasn’t a huge surprise. The Fenris Wolf also made an appearance, once again brawling with the Green Rage Monster.
Last year, Ruffalo teased a "verbal" Hulk in Thor: Ragnarok, and the new trailer showed exactly what he was talking about. In one scene, he and Chris Hemsworth's Norse God of Thunder engaged in a relatively friendly chat.
The trailer is full of action, along with additional footage of Hulk and Thor. Other characters also make appearances, including Tessa Thompson's Valkyrie, Tom Hiddleston's Loki, Cate Blanchett's Hela, Karl Urban's Skurge, Jeff Goldblum's Grandmaster, Idris Elba's Heimdall, and Anthony Hopkins' Odin. Check it out below!
A new Thor: Ragnarok poster has also surfaced online. The previous one depicted only Hemsworth's superhero, but the new one features all of the above-mentioned characters, with Skurge being the only exception.
