While Doctor Strange stole the Marvel presentation at the San Diego Comic Con, it did so only for those who didn't attend the gathering. And that is because only the trailer for Doctor Strange has been released thus far. However, it wasn't the only Marvel flick to feature a small clip and concept art.
Thor: Ragnarok was also there - with no clip. Which is understandable, to a certain degree, since the movie will be released in late 2017. However, concept art was featured, as well as a new logo. Unfortunately, only the logo was released. And it’s"¦ okay? The fans are split at this moment as far as the logo is concerned. And for good reason, given the "˜80's look of it.
More interestingly, the concept art revealed that one giant villain will be present in Thor: Ragnarok. If the addition of Hela as the main antagonist made us believe otherwise, it appears that Surtur will also be featured in the movie. The concept art for Thor: Ragnarok showcased Hela, Gladiator Hulk, and Surtur.
At this point, we can only speculate on the role of the fire demon in Thor: Ragnarok. So he could be one of Hela's generals, although this would be weird. In the comics, Surtur is way more powerful than Hela. And for him to be downgraded like that would be a blow to the fans.
So there is another possibility. As we know, the Grandmaster presides over the gladiator arena, and he has gathered heroes and villains from the entire universe. What if Surtur is one of those villains? And what if Hulk is defeated by him, to later on be aided in his fight by Thor? This could be a possibility - and a better one, since Surtur wouldn't have to be dumbed down.
Thor: Ragnarok will be released on the 3rd of November 2017.
PS: The Fenris Wolf was also seen in the concept art.
