Violent New Trailer For Marvel’s Wolverine Released, Watch It Right Now

Wolverine with his claws out in Marvel's Wolverine video game

Insomniac Games has unveiled an ultra-violent new trailer for Marvel’s Wolverine. This video game has been a long time coming but it’s finally making its way to a PlayStation 5 near you this fall. This latest, fully cinematic trailer offers one of our best looks yet at what to expect. Brace yourselves, as Logan ain’t no hero in this one. He’s got the claws out and he isn’t afraid to use ‘em. Check it out.

This is a fast-moving, very cinematic trailer. It includes a lot of bloodshed, as well as some other familiar faces. Chief amongst them is Sabertooth, Wolverine’s longtime nemesis. We get a great look at the fan-favorite mutant in his comics-accurate yellow costume. We also get a good sense of the action, which is big in scale and not afraid to get bloody. It looks like the same level of fun offered by the recent Spider-Man games, only R-rated.

Here is the synopsis for Marvel’s Wolverine.

“Logan thought he was finished being Wolverine, but the past wasn’t finished with him yet. Three years after walking out on his team, Wolverine rejoins the mutant task force, Team X, in their darkest hour. Driven by his fanatical belief in human superiority, Bolivar Trask is kidnapping mutants. Only Wolverine has what it takes to save them.

In his fight for the future, Wolverine must team up with fellow mutants across the globe through locations like Canada, Japan, and the Marvel island nation of Madripoor. With the fate of humans and mutants hanging in the balance, Logan knows the world needs a hero; however, they’ll have to settle for Wolverine.”

Marvel’s Wolverine will share a connected universe with Marvel’s Spider-Man games. Since they both hail from Insomniac, that makes sense. That doesn’t mean fans should expect Spidey to show up in this game, but it does make crossovers possible in the future, depending on how things play out. The only unfortunate part is that, for now, these games are exclusive to PlayStation. Sorry, Xbox and Nintendo fans.

Meanwhile, Marvel’s other video game endeavors are in a somewhat uncertain place. The Blade video game may be in trouble thanks to some shakeups at Xbox. We also haven’t had any meaningful update on the Iron Man game any time recently, despite being announced several years ago. There’s also Marvel 1943: The Rise of Hydra, which was delayed and remains without a firm release date for the time being.

Marvel’s Wolverine arrives on September 15. It’s available for pre-order now. The standard edition retails for $69.99.
