PSA: Zack Snyder’s Justice League Is Now Streaming On HBO Max

The moment has finally arrived. Zack Snyder’s Justice League is now streaming on HBO Max. The fabled Snyder Cut has been on the minds of many DC fans for literally years now. After relentless social media campaigns, lots of teases, and a whole lot of additional production, the film is finally out in the world for all to see.

HBO Max released the Snyder Cut on March 18, right at midnight PT. So those with an active HBO Max account can now stream the movie, all four hours worth, at their leisure. That means more from Ben Affleck’s Batman. More from Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman. Plus, more of Ray Fisher’s Cyborg, Ezra Miller’s The Flash and Jason Moma’s Aquaman. Not to mention Henry Cavill’s Superman. In his black suit this time.

Here is the synopsis for Zack Snyder’s Justice League

In ZACK SNYDER’S JUSTICE LEAGUE, determined to ensure Superman’s (Henry Cavill) ultimate sacrifice was not in vain, Bruce Wayne (Ben Affleck) aligns forces with Diana Prince (Gal Gadot) with plans to recruit a team of metahumans to protect the world from an approaching threat of catastrophic proportions. The task proves more difficult than Bruce imagined, as each of the recruits must face the demons of their own pasts to transcend that which has held them back, allowing them to come together, finally forming an unprecedented league of heroes. Now united, Batman (Affleck), Wonder Woman (Gadot), Aquaman (Jason Momoa), Cyborg (Ray Fisher) and The Flash (Ezra Miller) may be too late to save the planet from Steppenwolf, DeSaad and Darkseid and their dreadful intentions.”

Snyder, who directed both Man of Steel and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, was originally set as the director of Justice League. However, following a family tragedy and conflicts with Warner Bros, Snyder stepped away from the project. Joss Whedon, of The Avengers fame, was then brought in to finish the job. Rather than finish what Snyder had started, Whedon headed up extensive rewrites and reshoots that significantly changed the film.

The resulting DC Comics adaptation was released in November 2017. It was met with middling reviews on its way to $657 million at the box office. That wasn’t nearly enough to turn a profit, considering the budget ballooned to $300 million. Soon after, fans began calling for the studio to release Snyder’s original version, dubbed the Snyder Cut. Unfortunately, Snyder never finished the film. It needed a great deal of work. Eventually, the studio relented. Now, the time has come to see what all of the fuss was about.

The screenplay is by Chris Terrio, with story by Terrio, Snyder and Will Beall. The film’s producers are Charles Roven, Deborah Snyder, with executive producers Christopher Nolan, Emma Thomas, Wesley Coller, Jim Rowe, Curtis Kanemoto, Chris Terrio and Ben Affleck.
