Kevin Conroy Seems Open to Batman Beyond Revival

Could we be seeing a Batman Beyond revival in the future? There are no plans, at least not that we know of, to make that happen. However, if it does happen, legendary Batman actor Kevin Conroy is down to return alongside Will Friedle, as revealed by Comicbook.com

“I don’t think people age as much vocally; I think he can still do Batman Beyond,” Conroy said. “He could do Terry McGinnis as a voice job. I don’t know how young he can make his voice sound, but you know Lauren Lester, who still does Robin sometimes, is a lot older than Will Friedle, so it’s just a question of how your voice ages. I would love to work with Will again, because we worked so well together. He’s a great guy.”

Batman Beyond originally hit the air in 1999, with Batman: The Animated Series star as Bruce Wayne and Will Friedle as Terry McGinnies. The show takes place in the future with McGinnis taking over the role of the Caped Crusader in Gotham from an aging Bruce Wayne. He, instead, mentors the young crimefighter.

The show ran for only three seasons, but has since become a beloved iteration of the franchise. In the years since, DC has published various comics based on the cartoon, but we have never been treated to any sort of revival or reunion. As Conroy tells it, they’re not too old to make it work.

Here as a synopsis for Batman Beyond

“Rage and revenge for his father’s murder motivate Terry McGinnis to steal Bruce Wayne’s high-tech Batsuit. And then a greater purpose and sense of justice keep him wearing it. Across three seasons and 52 episodes of this highly acclaimed Emmy-award winning series, he patrols the streets and skies of Gotham City with Bruce as his guide. Get in on the exciting and explosive partnership between an ex-crime-fighter and his apprentice in the animated series that catapulted the Batman legend to new justice-seeking heights, now in beautiful High Definition!”

This all sounds good in theory, but is this something that could truly happen? HBO Max is currently looking for branded content that can attract subscribers, and the streaming service has already given the green light to an Aquaman animated series. Why not some more Batman Beyond? Stranger things have happened, that much is certain.

So what do you think? Would you like to see some new Batman Beyond episodes? Or is it best to leave this one alone? Join in on the conversation over on Facebook or Twitter
