Three weeks after Wonder Woman opened in theaters, Geoff Johns revealed that he and director Patty Jenkins had already started working on the script for the sequel. Later, we even heard a rumor about its setting, but there’s been no official announcement from Warner Bros. That could happen in less than a week, though.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the studio plans to make an announcement during its Hall H presentation at this weekend’s San Diego Comic-Con International. And that's not all! According to the outlet – which is very reliable and hardly ever inaccurate – the studio will also reveal the Wonder Woman 2 release date and confirm Jenkins’ return as director.
The original movie has already grossed $380.7 million domestically, and is expected to walk past Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 ($381 million) to become the third-biggest Warner Bros. release of all time in North America, not accounting for inflation. It will soon bypass Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 ($386.6 million at the moment) to claim the Number Eight 8 spot on the list of top-grossing comic book adaptations. So there's practically no reason for the studio to procrastinate in adding Wonder Woman 2 to the DC Extended Universe movie slate.

The outlet didn’t reveal a release date for the sequel, but we can’t expect that it to arrive much before late 2019. Warner Bros. is releasing two DCEU movies this year, but the only one scheduled for a 2018 release is James Wan's Aquaman, which has been filming on the Gold Coast of Australia since May.
There are numerous other projects in the works, including those announced in October 2014: The Flash, Shazam, Cyborg, and Green Lantern Corps. Others include Suicide Squad 2, Gotham City Sirens, The Batman, Nightwing, and Batgirl.
In May 2017, producer Deborah Snyder reportedly claimed that Joss Whedon's Batgirl would arrive ahead of the Wonder Woman sequel. But Wonder Woman’s performance at the box office may have changed those plans.
