Marvel’s Hit-Monkey Season 2 Trailer Released By Hulu

It’s been a long time, but Marvel’s most violent monkey is back. Hulu has released a new trailer for Hit-Monkey season 2. After several years away, Monkey and Bryce are back for another round of violent, animated shenanigans in the Marvel universe. This time, they’re taking the action to the Big Apple. That’s right! Get ready for Monkey to spill some blood in New York City. Check it out.

The series was co-created and executive produced by Josh Gordon and Will Speck. The most amazing thing is just how long of a break we’ve had between seasons. Hit-Monkey season 1 arrived nearly three years ago in late 2021. The series wasn’t even officially renewed for a second season until 2023, which was highly unusual. Be that as it may, fans of this particular brand of Marvel violence will get at least one more crack at it. Gordon explained the show’s move to NYC, saying the following.

“We always knew we wanted to set Season 2 in New York City. Like Tokyo, it’s a layered, gritty, cinematic place. But it also allowed us to dig into Bryce’s past and drag Monkey deeper into the messiness of the human world. It’s been the setting of so many Marvel stories before, but we wanted to show a more realistic version of the city. Still moody and complex, but more like the city we know.”

“We also dig deeper into Monkey’s past, which ultimately drives him to his breaking point and pays off a lot of his deeper issues from Season 1,” Speck added. “And there’s also a whole host of new villains and allies this season, which you’ll just have to watch the show to discover.”

Here is the synopsis for Hit-Monkey season 2.

“In New York City, Monkey finds a path to escape his life of killing, while Bryce attempts to repair the damage to those he wronged in life. But what will it cost them to undo the past?”

Originally, this show was supposed to be part of a larger animation initiative at Marvel. The plan was to make four shows – Hit-Monkey, M.O.D.O.K., Howard the Duck and Tigra & Dazzler – with the whole thing culminating in a crossover event. The only other show to actually make it to air on Hulu was M.O.D.O.K. The other two were scrapped and the crossover never came to be. Marvel Studios shifted focus to shows more firmly set in the MCU, such as WandaVision and Loki.

The cast includes Leslie Jones (SNL), Ally Maki (The Vindicators), Cristin Milioti (The Penguin), Olivia Munn (X-Men: Apocalypse), Fred Tatasciore (Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur), Jason Sudeikis (Ted Lasso), Rob Corddry (Crossing Swords), Jim Gaffigan (Super Troopers) and Keith David (Rick and Morty).

Hit-Monkey season 2 premieres July 15 on Hulu.
