The release of the first Wonder Woman teaser trailer at 2016’s San Diego Comic Con took everybody by surprise. Now that we’ve learned which DCEU movies and stars will appear at SDCC, we feel that it’s safe to say that we can expect to see something similar in 2017.
Warner Bros. has announced that a panel featuring Aquaman and Justice League will take place in Hall H on the 22nd of July. Moderated by Chris Hardwick, the panel will feature almost all of the DCEU’s major stars. There’s one notable exception: Henry Cavill hasn't been confirmed just yet, and that makes us wonder about Superman’s role in Justice League, which also happened to release its first teaser trailer at last year's SDCC.
Ben Affleck (Batman), Gal Gadot (Wonder Woman), Jason Momoa (Aquaman), Ezra Miller (The Flash), and Ray Fisher (Cyborg) will be there to promote their movies (via Deadline).
Descriptions for Justice League and Aquaman trailers were recently leaked online, accompanied with the information that the trailers will debut at Comic Con. We’ve seen one Justice League trailer so far, and Aquaman is still shooting, so we’re keeping our fingers crossed!
We can also expect additional DCEU-related announcements. For example, with all of the changes Warner Bros. has made to the original movie slate, we’re still not sure what will happen after Aquaman. Maybe that rumor about Phil Lord and Chris Miller directing The Flash will turn out to be true.
Additional projects that might be teased at Comic Con include Matt Reeves' The Batman (War of the Planet of the Apes will hit theaters one week before SDCC) and Joss Whedon's Batgirl (the director won’t attend this year’s SDCC).
We'll know more in just a couple of weeks. We’re hoping that Warner Bros. will have plenty of exciting surprises in store for us.
