Batman

Batman is the superhero who has been played by the most actors over the years.

The Gotham-based hero’s first big-budget Hollywood appearance was in Tim Burton’s 1989 movie Batman, when he was played by Michael Keaton. Keaton reprised the role three years later before both Val Kilmer and George Clooney took on the role in the Joel Schumacher-directed 1995 and 1997 movies respectively. Christian Bale then had his turn in 2005’s Batman Begins and he reprised the role in 2008 and 2012 in the franchise known as Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight Trilogy.

The aforementioned Affleck played the role in 2016’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice – as well as a smaller role in Suicide Squad – and joined the live action Justice League and will appear in yet more Batman solo movies beyond that.

Like Superman, Batman is immensely popular, but you have to feel like his relentless appearances are restricting the chances of other great DC characters of getting their own movies.
