Iron Man

Tony Stark only first appeared in a movie in 2008’s Iron Man – and it was quite a surprise at the time, given that he was a B-list comic book character at best – but he has since gone on to become the go-to guy for Marvel Studios in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Robert Downey, Jr.’s casting was seen as a risk in the inaugural movie in the franchise, but he has proven to be incredibly popular and he is now being used at every available opportunity.

He has already been given multiple solo movies – more than anyone else in the franchise – and has also appeared in Avengers movies and in a cameo at the end of The Incredible Hulk, just to give some examples.

Bearing all of that in mind, perhaps it’s about time Marvel Studios gave some of Downey, Jr.’s limelight to someone new.
