Green Lantern Corps (24 July 2020)

Initially called Green Lantern, the plan for this movie changed with the appearance of the first rumors that Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice was a mess. So now we’ll have a Green Lantern Corps movie.

Initial reports said that the flick would feature multiple Earth-based Green Lanterns. However, it was announced in the beginning of 2017 that it would feature just Hal Jordan and John Stewart (and for many fans, this sounds a lot like a buddy cop movie, in the vein of Lethal Weapon – which isn’t necessarily a bad idea).

Shortlists of actors for the part of Hal Jordan surfaced, and quite a few big names were included (Jake Gyllenhaal was my favorite for the role, based on his numerous great performances).

Other than that, this won’t be an origin story, which is great news yet again. And rumor has it that Green Lantern Corps will throw audiences straight into a war with the Sinestro Corps (and, obviously, there are plenty of rumors out there concerning which comic book storyline will be adapted). Even more, Mark Strong confirmed that he is willing to return as Sinestro, after portraying the character in 2011’s Green Lantern).
