Shazam (5 April 2019)

When Shazam was announced, it was clear that the DCEU would be based on the new 52 comic book character versions. And this was fine for many. The fact that Dwayne The Rock Johnson had teased a role in the DCEU for ages, and that this role ended up being Black Adam, made the fans even more excited.

As it turned out, they shouldn’t have been. The wrestler turned actor said that he’d play an anti-hero rather than a straight-up villain, and then later said that Black Adam was one of the best comic book heroes.

We know literally nothing about Shazam, other than The Rock connection. There is no director attached, and people said for a couple of years that this solo movie won’t be tied in with the rest of the DCEU (which didn’t make sense at all).

Henry Gayden (Earth to Echo) was announced last year as scriptwriter. And that’s about it…Given the flick’s release date (if it will indeed be made at all), this is understandable.
