Marvels Kraven The Hunter Trailer Released By Sony

Sony has released the first trailer for the R-rated Kraven the Hunter movie. Yes, this thing is very R-rated and the red-band trailer pulls no punches. This is NSFW so be warned before you hit play. That having been said, this is the latest Spider-Man spin-off film the studio has put together. It follows in the footsteps of Venom and Morbius. For better or worse, it very much looks in line with what Sony has been doing with these films over the last handful of years. Check it out.

The big difference here is that this is unabashedly R-rated and bloody. There was no holding back in bringing one of Spider-Man’s most infamous foes to life in live-action for the first time. Though the origin story has clearly been changed quite a bit. In this case, Kraven is going to be more of an anti-hero rather than a straight-up villain who wants to hunt Spidey for sport. The end of the trailer also teases that Rhino is going to make his big-screen return for the first time since The Amazing Spider-Man 2. But this time, it’s a real Rhino and not a guy in a robotic suit.

Here is the synopsis for Kraven the Hunter.

“Kraven the Hunter is the visceral story about how and why one of Marvel’s most iconic villains came to be. Set before his notorious vendetta with Spider-Man, Aaron Taylor-Johnson stars as the titular character in the R-rated film.”

Aaron Taylor-Johson (Kick-Ass) is playing Kraven in the film. This will be the actor’s second Marvel character, having appeared as Quicksilver in Avengers: Age of Ultron. The cast also includes Ariana DeBose (West Side Story), Fred Hechinger (Fear Street Part One: 1994), Alessandro Nivola (Jurassic Park III), Christopher Abbott (Catch-22) and Russell Crowe (Thor: Love and Thunder). J.C Chandor (Triple Frontier) directed the film, working from a script by Art Marcum (Iron Man), Matt Holloway (Punisher: War Zone) and Richard Wenk (The Equalizer).

Kraven first appeared in The Amazing Spider-Man #15 in 1964. Co-created by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko, the Russian villain has been one of Spider-Man’s most enduring villains. He is an expert hunter who views Spider-Man as “the most dangerous game.” He is also a co-founder of The Sinister Six. Kraven was at the center of one of Spider-Man’s most beloved storylines, Kraven’s Last Hunt. But instead of appearing in a Spider-Man movie first, he’s getting a solo film.

Kraven the Hunter is set to hit theaters on October 6.
