Hawkeye: Freefall Trailer Released by Marvel

Marvel has released a new trailer for Hawkeye: Freefall. This new series will center on Clint Barton and will have him up against the ropes. A new Ronin is tearing his way through the streets in bloody fashion, with all signs pointing to Clint. This is, of course, problematic for the hero. The trailer offers us a look at what’s to come in this new series. Have a look.

As we can see, both Clint and this mysterious Ronin are going after the same villain, which makes things interesting. The art we see in the trailer looks like it is taking some cues from the now-legendary run on Hawkeye written by Matt Fraction. Overall, this looks like it could be a fun way for Marvel Comics to kick off the new decade.

It’s always fun to spend time with Clint Barton because he’s cool, smart, funny, one of the greatest heroes around, and he’s always one step away from completely blowing it,” writer Matthew Rosenberg says about the book. “I’m very excited to bring everyone’s favorite archer back to the comic shop shelves in his own book. It’s been too long. HAWKEYE: FREEFALL is a story of Marvel’s best non-super powered Super Hero trying his darndest to do right, getting in waaaay over his head, and still fighting like crazy to come out on top… or at least come out alive. Throw in a war with the Hood, a dangerous new Ronin ruining Clint’s reputation, and lots of relationship troubles, and you have a story deserving of the title ‘Hawkeye.’ It’s full of all the things people love about Clint — big adventure, bad romance, weird jokes, and some of the best art you’ll see in comics. Come watch things go horribly wrong January 1st.”

Here’s the synopsis for Hawkeye: Freefall #1.

When a mysterious and ruthless new Ronin starts tearing a destructive path through the city, suspicion immediately falls on Hawkeye, but Clint has more to worry about than who’s wearing his old costume. After a clash with the Hood ends badly, Hawkeye gives himself a new mission that will place him in the crosshairs of one of New York’s most dangerous villains. Hawkeye’s mission and Ronin’s secret plans will set them on a collision course that only one of them will walk away from. Fan favorite Clint Barton returns in a brand new series from Matthew Rosenberg (UNCANNY X-MEN, THE PUNISHER) and Otto Schmidt (Green Arrow).”

Hawkeye: Freefall #1 hits stands on January 1.
