DC Releases Final Blue Beetle Trailer

Warner Bros. has released a new (and final) trailer for Blue Beetle. The latest DC movie is set to hit theaters next month, introducing us to a brand new superhero. While the character has been a part of the comics for a very long time, this is the first time that he has been brought into live-action. Specifically, the Jaime Reyes version of the character. Check it out.

This trailer is a bit longer and offers a more thorough look at the hero’s powers. We also get a better look at the villains, which have been kept mysterious. One of the big hooks here is that Jaime Reyes will be the first Latino superhero to lead a live-action DC film. That’s a pretty big deal. Unfortunately, this movie has to carry a pretty big burden following the disappointment of The Flash. Now, all eyes are on this movie and how it performs.

Here is the synopsis for Blue Beetle.

“Recent college grad Jaime Reyes returns home full of aspirations for his future, only to find that home is not quite as he left it. As he searches to find his purpose in the world, fate intervenes when Jaime unexpectedly finds himself in possession of an ancient relic of alien biotechnology: the Scarab. When the Scarab suddenly chooses Jaime to be its symbiotic host, he is bestowed with an incredible suit of armor capable of extraordinary and unpredictable powers, forever changing his destiny as he becomes the Super Hero BLUE BEETLE.”

Warner Bros. seems to have a lot of faith in this movie. It was originally produced for HBO Max (which is now just called Max). However, after seeing the film, the studio decided to make it a theatrical release. On the flip side, the Batgirl movie, which was also made for streaming, was canceled altogether. Angel Manuel Soto (Charm City Kings) is in the director’s chair for this one.

The cast is led by Xolo Maridueña (Cobra Kai), Adriana Barraza (Thor), Damían Alcázar (Narcos), Elpidia Carrillo (Mayans M.C.), Bruna Marquezine (Maldivas), Raoul Max Trujillo (Sicario), and Susan Sarandon (Rick and Morty). The ensemble also includes George Lopez (Rio), Belissa Escobedo (Hocus Pocus 2) and Harvey Guillén (Harley Quinn). Gareth Dunnet-Alcocer (Miss Bala) penned the screenplay. John Rickard and Zev Foreman are on board as producers, with Walter Hamada, Galen Vaisman and Garrett Grant serving as executive producers.

Blue Beetle is set to hit theaters on August 18.
