The Masters Of The Universe Movie Trailer Is Here, Watch It Right Now

Skeletor in the Masters of the Universe movie

Amazon MGM Studios has released the first trailer for the live-action Masters of the Universe movie. The cinematic version of Mattel’s beloved ‘80s franchise has been in the works for a long time. McG was working on a version a decade ago that never came to be. But at long last, director Travis Knight (Bumblebee) managed to get it done. So, what does He-Man look like in the flesh? Check it out for yourself below.

The trailer reveals that Prince Adam was sent to our world and the movie is about him returning to Eternia. Lots of iconic MOTU imagery is on display, including his arch-nemesis Skeletor. This movie was in development at Netflix for a long time. When the streamer let it go, Amazon picked it up. It appears as though they spared no expense to bring the franchise to life for modern audiences. They’re also releasing it in theaters, which Netflix most likely wouldn’t have done.

Here is the synopsis for Masters of the Universe.

After being separated for 15 years, the Sword of Power leads Prince Adam back to Eternia where he discovers his home shattered under the fiendish rule of Skeletor. To save his family and his world, Adam must join forces with his closest allies, Teela and Duncan/Man-At-Arms, and embrace his true destiny as He-Man—the most powerful man in the universe.”

Nicholas Galitzine (Red, White & Royal Blue) leads the cast as He-Man/Prince Adam. The ensemble also includes Jared Leto (Suicide Squad) as Skeletor, Idris Elba (Thor) as Duncan/Man-At-Arms, Camila Mendes (Upgraded) as Teela, Kristen Wiig (Bridesmaids) as Roboto, Alison Brie (Community) as Evil-Lyn, James Purefoy (Solomon Kane) as King Randor, Morena Baccarin (Deadpool & Wolverine) as Sorceress, Jóhannes Haukur Jóhannesson (Alpha) as Malcolm/Fisto and Charlotte Riley (Entity) as Queen Marlena.

Masters of the Universe began as a line of toys in the ‘80s from Mattel. Once the animated series came into play, it became a massive hit. It’s been a long time since we’ve had a movie. However, Netflix has made several animated shows. This includes Masters of the Universe: Revelation, as well as its sequel, Masters of the Universe: Revolution. But as a big-budget, live-action feature, this is a big deal for longtime fans.

Masters of the Universe hits theaters on June 5.
