The Marvels Trailer Officially Released By Marvel Studios

Disney and Marvel Studios have released the first teaser trailer for The Marvels. The upcoming film serves as a sequel to 2019’s Captain Marvel, with Brie Larson returning as Carol Danvers. However, she’s going to have some company this time around. Teyonah Parris will be joining as Monica Rambeau, as will Iman Vellani as Mrs. Marvel. We’ve got a new superteam on our hands, and they’ve got a mysterious cosmic threat to deal with. Check it out.

The trailer doesn’t give too much away in terms of the overall story. We do sort of get a grip on things though, with some mysterious cosmic energy intertwining the fates of Carol, Monica, and Kamala Khan. We also see that Nick Fury is back before (or after?) he heads back to Earth for Secret Invasion. Though it does very much seem like Marvel is keeping a lot under wraps for now.

Here is the synopsis for The Marvels.

“In Marvel Studios’ ‘The Marvels,’ Carol Danvers aka Captain Marvel has reclaimed her identity from the tyrannical Kree and taken revenge on the Supreme Intelligence. But unintended consequences see Carol shouldering the burden of a destabilized universe. When her duties send her to an anomalous wormhole linked to a Kree revolutionary, her powers become entangled with that of Jersey City super-fan Kamala Khan, aka Ms. Marvel, and Carol’s estranged niece, now S.A.B.E.R. astronaut Captain Monica Rambeau. Together, this unlikely trio must team up and learn to work in concert to save the universe as The Marvels.”

2019’s Captain Marvel was directed by Ryan Fleck and Anna Boden. It came out between Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame. As such, it had a great deal of appeal to MCU fans. It overperformed at the box office, taking in $1.12 billion at the global box office. Fleck and Boden didn’t return for the sequel. There are questions about how well the sequel will perform, given that it is so heavily tired to shows like WandaVision and Mrs. Marvel. Also considering that Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania recently underperformed at the box office.

The film stars Brie Larson, Teyonah Parris, Iman Vellani, Samuel L. Jackson, Zawe Ashton and Park Seo-joon. Nia DaCosta (Candyman) is in the director’s chair, with Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige on board as the producer. Louis D’Esposito, Victoria Alonso, Mary Livanos and Matthew Jenkins serve as executive producers. The screenplay was penned by Megan McDonnell (WandaVision), Elissa Karasik (Loki), Zeb Wells (She-Hulk: Attorney at Law”), and DaCosta

The Marvels hits theaters on November 10.
