Batman

Batman is the comic book character who has been portrayed by the most actors over the years – and by a very large margin. In addition to film serials and television shows, he’s appeared in a number of theatrically released movies.

Starting in 1966, Adam West reprised his role from the television shows – in a movie simply called Batman – triggering a series of further movies that have lasted until today.

Michael Keaton (twice), Val Kilmer and George Clooney portrayed the character in 1989’s Batman, 1992’s Batman Returns, 1995’s Batman Forever and 1997’s Batman and Robin, before Christian Bale played the character in Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight Trilogy (2005’s Batman Begins, 2008’s The Dark Knight and 2012’s The Dark Knight Rises). Ben Affleck will now portray the character going forward, starting with 2016’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.
