Spider-Man
Spider-Man is Marvel’s flagship hero and, as a result, has been portrayed on the big screen on more than one occasion. As well as being portrayed in a live action television film, he’s had two theatrically released franchises to date – and a new version is on the way.
Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man Trilogy began in 2002Â with Spider-Man and continued with 2004’s Spider-Man 2 and 2007’s Spider-Man 3. In those movies, the character was brilliantly portrayed by Tobey Maguire.
More recently, a rebooted franchise saw two movies released – 2012’s The Amazing Spider-Man and 2014’s The Amazing Spider-Man 2 – starring Andrew Garfield, who was equally good. However, the franchise was cancelled and the character is now set to appear in the Marvel Cinematic Universe – starting with 2016’s Captain America: Civil War and going further into the future – played by youngster Tom Holland.
