It seems like Venom won't be the only time we see Tom Hardy portray Eddie Brock as the British actor confirms signing a multi-picture deal.
Despite making a really bad first impression with its controversial first teaser trailer, Venom has managed to find its footing, thanks to its top-notch second and third trailers. A lot of fans are counting the days until October 5 when they will finally be able to watch the movie in theaters. But with more than a month remaining before the release, it seems a bit early to come up with a prediction about the movie's box office performance.
However, if the Ruben Fleischer flick manages to pull in a decent amount of cash, it's highly likely that an announcement about a sequel, or even a trilogy, will arrive right away. This is because Tom Hardy has revealed in a new interview with Total Film (via ComicBookMovie) that he is already signed for a trilogy. According to the Academy Award nominee:
I’m open to whatever you want to do with it. We’ve signed up for three of them. So it’s very much an open case. We’ll see what people’s responses are to it. I think it’s an awesome character. I love playing both of them. It’s an amuse-bouche, and for Sony, it’s the Venom-verse launched in isolation, as it were. We all prepped for it to be a standalone universe. So whatever Sony want to attach to it at a later date, it’s a fulcrum piece. But let’s see what happens when it lands.
Of course, this isn't the first time we are hearing about potential sequels for Venom. In an interview with Collider back in May, Woody Harrelson (who is heavily rumored to play Cletus Kasady, aka Carnage) suggested that he is a little fraction of the first movie but will have a more significant presence in the second one.
