In 2008, everyone was anxious to see The Dark Knight, and Marvel came out of nowhere to show that it had what it took to make an instant hit featuring a virtually unknown superhero. After Iron Man, the shared universe grew with each passing year, and the first Avengers movie came out four years later.
We’ve known since 2012 that the Marvel Cinematic Universe was heading toward an all-out war against the Mad Titan, as teased in the Avengers credits scene.
Jump ahead five years, and it feels like it’s been ages since we learned that the Infinity War was coming. Age of Ultron came and went; we discovered the Guardians of the Galaxy; magic was introduced in the shared universe; Spider–Man finally came back home; and so on. All of the heroes we’ve met so far will appear together on the big screen, and it will be an event like no other.
While we waited, we speculated about when we’d see the first Avengers: Infinity War teaser trailer. After Thor: Ragnarok was released, we believed that it would accompany Star Wars: The Last Jedi (another big Disney property). And we were wrong!
The Russos teased the teaser on a couple of occasions, most recently posting this on their Instagram account:
Then Mark Ruffalo joined in on Twitter:
Something big is coming…
