Attendees of the Disney D23 Expo and San Diego Comic-Con International 2017 were treated to some exciting footage from Avengers: Infinity War, but the rest of us had to demonstrate the patience of a saint as Marvel Studios continued to postpone sharing it online. But now the wait is over, and the first official trailer has finally arrived.
The studio announced yesterday that we’d be able to access the Avengers: Infinity War trailer today. As promised, it was launched during today’s episode of Good Morning America on ABC.
The teaser was entirely made up of footage from previous Marvel Cinematic Universe installments, but the new two-minute, twenty-one-second trailer is heavily loaded with fresh footage from the upcoming Russo Brothers flick. The studio wasn’t shy about introducing us to Thanos (Josh Brolin) and the havoc he unleashes. At one point in the trailer, he says:
In time, you will know what it's like to lose, to feel so desperately that you’re right, yet to fail all the same. Dread it. Run from it. But destiny still arrives.
The Mad Titan makes another spine-tingling utterance that makes him a formidable force in spite of his CGI-heavy exterior:
Fun isn’t something one considers when balancing the universe. But this does put a smile on my face.
Quite a bit of the trailer’s time is spent on the big baddie, but at the same time, it doesn't neglect Earth's Mightiest Heroes. While the customary moments of levity are missing, there are tons of shots in which our beloved superheroes join forces to battle Thanos.
We advise those who haven't seen Thor: Ragnarok to keep in mind that this trailer features some major SPOILERS from the Taika Waititi flick. Check it out below!
