Wonder Woman Understands Steppenwolf Better than Anyone Else

With Justice League's release date closing in, cast members are free (courtesy of Warner Bros., of course) to reveal more about their characters and still avoid spoiling the film. Batman and Wonder Woman have already been introduced in the DCEU, so it makes sense that we’ll learn more about their evolution.

During an interview with US Weekly, Gal Gadot talked about Steppenwolf and teased the Amazons’ knowledge of the New Gods (although not as widely known as Darkseid, Steppenwolf is also a member of this species), which was accumulated throughout the Amazons’ long life-span.

When asked how Wonder Woman has changed since World War I, Gadot responded:

She's grown up "” it's been a century, after all! She'll bring her specific qualities to a group dynamic, and she understands the enemy better than anyone else.

This might be a reference to Wonder Woman’s experience in comparison with that of Batman and the rest of the Leaguers. We do know that Justice League will include a flashback sequence during which Darkseid's forces are repelled by an alliance of Men, Amazons, and Atlanteans. This is further confirmation that the warriors of Themyscira would know more about the New Gods.

However, we don't know where this battle falls within the DCEU timeline. In Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, Wonder Woman mentioned that she had killed otherworldly monsters. Was she talking about Parademons? Did she actually fight during Darkseid's attempted invasion?

Or was she talking about Ares?

Justice League will have answers for us when it hits theaters on November 17.
