Warner Bros. apparently has its eye on May to begin filming The Joker. It also looks as though the studio plans to get underway with Batgirl and Flashpoint sometime in the near future.
Jeff Sneider, editor-in-chief of the Tracking Board, tweeted a listing for Todd Phillips' origin movie for The Joker that indicates that the studio wants to get the cameras rolling on May 1. The listing didn’t mention a location or a budget amount, although it did suggest that Joaquin Phoenix was a candidate for the titular role.
Of course, we’d already heard Phoenix's name in connection with the role. A report from early February suggested that Phillips had already approached the three-time Oscar nominee, who had offered his verbal consent. However, we were cautioned that no official negotiations with the studio had taken place, and there’s been no significant progress on that front since.

It's no surprise that the studio is moving quickly with The Joker. Since it doesn't fall under the unofficially-titled DC Extended Universe, it isn’t necessary to create a place for it within the continuity of a shared universe. But that doesn't indicate that the planned DCEU projects are struggling in any way.
The Hollywood Reporter just published a new story about Warner Bros. executive Chantal Nong’s appointment as DC Films' Vice President of Production. They also reported that Batgirl and Flashpoint will head into production after Wonder Woman 2, which is set to begin filming this summer under the working title Magic Hour.
Both movies already have directors on board. Joss Whedon has been attached to Batgirl from the word go, and Spider-Man: Homecoming scribes John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein signed on to direct Flashpoint. The original plan had Batgirl preceding the Wonder Woman sequel and Flashpoint actually in theaters in March 2018, although that’s been delayed because more than one director has left the project.
