In late March, we learned that a Batgirl movie was in the works, with Avengers director Joss Whedon penning the script and taking the helm. Now we’ve learned that the project will follow Patty Jenkins' Wonder Woman as the DC Extended Universe's second female superhero movie.
According to Twitter user @fukujang0627, Zack Snyder's better half and producing partner Deborah Snyder stated on the Wonder Woman Chinese red carpet that Diana Prince would indeed have a sequel, but Barbara Gordon's first solo outing would probably be the next DCEU female superhero movie. Check out the tweet below!

A tweet from @ArthurWongDCEU differed slightly from the tweet above. He said that Zack Snyder claimed that Wonder Woman 2 would happen, while his wife suggested that Batgirl is next in line:

Both sources made it clear that a sequel to Wonder Woman will be made, but Batgirl will precede it. It’s still unclear whether Gotham City Sirens will also follow the Batgirl movie. Harley Quinn, Catwoman, and Poison Ivy are all female, but they’re not really superheroes.
It must be noted that we learned about the David Ayer flick three months prior to the news about the Joss Whedon flick. Besides, it's reportedly one of the five projects that Warner Bros. may shoot this year in addition to James Wan's Aquaman. Whedon discussed the project about a month ago, and at that point it appeared that he hadn’t finished working on the script or started looking for a lead actress.
