Heads up, Marvel fans! The first trailer for Avengers: Doomsday will soon be upon us. The latest Avengers movie is currently in production with Joe and Anthony Russo (Endgame, Infinity War) in the director’s chair. Though the movie is still more than a year away, Disney intends to give us a first look before the calendar rolls over to 2026.
According to Collider, the trailer for Avengers: Doomsday will be attached to the theatrical release of Avatar: Fire and Ash. James Cameron’s new Avatar movie is set to hit theaters on December 19. Mark your calendars and plan accordingly. It’s unclear if the trailer will only be in theaters at first or if it will be available online right away. But given that the Avatar movies are amongst the biggest of all time, it seems like a smart move.
Plot details for Doomsday remain firmly under wraps for the time being. We know that Robert Downey Jr., who formerly played Iron Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, will be suiting up as Doctor Doom. The movie also boasts an absolutely massive cast. Filming recently wrapped with post-production underway, though reshoots are expected to occur at some point. The Russos will then move into filming Avengers: Secret Wars, which is set to close out the Multiverse Saga in 2027.

“Doctor Doom has officially arrived in the MCU. This villain, a master of cutting-edge science and powerful magic, will unleash a cascading crisis across the entire multiverse.”
“You’re just not ready. It’s gonna make your brains ooze out of your ears, like in the way I knew when Blade walks on screen in Deadpool & Wolverine, people are going to physically lose their actual minds,” Gambit actor Channing Tatum previously said of Doomsday. “It’s that but maybe times 50.”
The MCU has been in a bit of a hit/miss period over the last few years. Deadpool & Wolverine was a massive hit but both Captain America: Brave New World and Thunderbolts fell way short of expectations this year. The Fantastic Four: First Steps did well but not on the level Marvel Studios is used to. As such, there is a lot of pressure on this movie and Secret Wars to deliver. This trailer will be key in getting the hype train moving in the right direction.
Avengers: Doomsday hits theaters on December 18, 2026. Avengers: Secret Wars will follow on December 17, 2027.
