With Josh Boone as director, a New Mutants movie is set to arrive sometime in the near future. We haven't been informed about the movie's release date, but we already know that Boone, along with Knate Gwaltney, has completed the second draft of the script. And we recently came across a rumor suggesting how three of the characters in the 20th Century Fox flick may be cast.
According to that rumor, Game of Thrones star Maisie Williams is on board to portray Rahne Sinclair, aka Wolfsbane, while The Witch star Anya Taylor-Joy will play Illya Rasputin, aka Magik, in in New Mutants. And Alexandra Shipp, the actress who is portraying Storm in X-Men: Apocalypse, will reprise her role in the movie.
While speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Maisie Williams has finally addressed the rumor. The 19-year-old actress doesn't confirm the rumor, but she doesn't debunk it, either! Here's what she says:
I can't say much about it at all, but I would absolutely love to be a part of it, [and] to be a part of the Marvel family.
That seems to indicate that the actress who plays Arya Stark in Game of Thrones has at least been approached to audition for the New Mutants role. Usually the studios ask actors to not speak up until a deal has been sealed. Whether or not Maisie Williams has been approached, she seems very much willing to star in the movie, and adds:
New Mutants looks absolutely incredible, and I've always loved the idea of spin-offs, and [director] Joshua Boone is incredibly talented. So, yeah, sign me up.
Sophie Turner, the actress who plays Sansa Stark, the sister of Maisie's character in Game of Thrones, has already landed herself a mutant role. She will be introduced as Jean Grey in the upcoming X-Men: Apocalypse. So, the other Stark girl might as well join the X-Men Universe. And, coincidentally, House Stark's sigil is the DIRE WOLF!
