Leitch Confirms Deadpool 2 Extended Cut!

If the Deadpool 2 theatrical cut left you craving more, we have good news! An extended cut is the works.

At just under two hours in length, Deadpool 2 is significantly shorter than other recent superhero movies, but that hasn't had any sort of negative effect on its performance. Its Rotten Tomatoes approval rating sits at 83 percent, and it's brought in a massive $301 million at the worldwide box office.

Of course, a longer runtime would have made room for even more absurd jokes from Ryan Reynolds’ red leather unitard-clad anti-hero. Those who agree will be happy to hear that director David Leitch recently told CinemaBlend that an extended cut is on the way:

There's an extended cut. And I think that they may want to spin that out as a special thing, but right now...We're taking our time, and it's going back to the "Director Cut". And then, sort of collaborating with Ryan , Rhett , and Paul , and making sure we're all getting all the jokes we want - to have it be fun and our sort of fun collaboration.

The Director Cut is an early rough cut that Leitch put together shortly after filming had wrapped. Its purpose was to offer Reynolds and other producers at 20th Century Fox some insight into how things were coming together. Leitch added that this version was about 132 minutes in length.

The director also provided us with an idea of what we'll see in the extended cut that didn't make it into the movie we saw in theaters. It includes a montage of the Merc exploring methods of suicide following the devastating death of another character:

The suicide scene is in there, and there's a scene in the mansion in the kitchen over breakfast. There's some extra Domino stuff. There's a lot of fun little bits, and then a lot of alts! We're looking for every place we can put an alt.
