A brand new villain is coming to Gotham City. DC has revealed Miracle Molly, a brand new character that will debut in Batman #108. The villain comes from the creative duo of writer James Tynion IV and artist Jorge Jimenez. DC has also released a preview of what’s to come, revealing our first look at the new baddie. Have a look.
As we can see, Miracle Molly is a colorful villain. She looks cut from a similar cloth as Harley Quinn, albeit with a less outwardly crazy vibe. She doesn’t necessarily look menacing at first glance. But that could play into the whole thing.
Here is the synopsis for Batman #108.
“Going undercover to learn more about the sudden appearance of the transhumanist Unsanity Collective, Batman meets Miracle Molly, the Collective’s second-in-command and a full-blown engineering genius that can repair any kind of tech. But her appearance and the plans of the Unsanity Collective are only one of the mysteries that the Dark Knight will need to solve before he’s done”
DC also revealed that those questions are as follows…
- After the events of Arkham Day, what does The Scarecrow have planned for Gotham City?
- What plans does Simon Saint have for A-Day survivor Sean Mahoney, and how do they connect to Mayor Christopher Nakano and The Magistrate?
“Her name is Miracle Molly. She’s on the cover of Batman #108, which will be her first FULL appearance, and the issue that I think will make you all fall as madly in love with her as Jorge and I are,” Tynion said in a recent blog post. “Jorge did the above as a color guide. This is just your first glimpse of her… There’s going to be a lot more to come. That Batman 108 cover is going to be coming your way with the next round of solicits, along with some craaazy variant covers featuring her. The Unsanity Collective are a high tech gang of thieves who use technology to erase and reset their memories, so they can let go of all the fear and trauma holding themselves back. Miracle Molly builds all of their hardware. She’s unlike any of the other characters I’ve written in and around Gotham, and I fucking LOVE her. So I hope you love reading about her, too…”
The issue will also see Tynion and artist Ricardo Lopez Ortiz continue the adventure of Batman’s frenemy Ghost-Maker in part two of “Legend of the Ghost-Maker.” This 40-page issue features a main cover by Jimenez, with a portrait-style variant cover by fan-favorite artist Stanley “Artgerm” Lau. It runs for $4.99. A 1:25 variant card stock cover by Riccardo Federici will also be available for $5.99.
Batman #108 hits shelves on May 4.
