A classic Spider-Man villain is returning to the world of Marvel Comics. It has been revealed that Norman Osborn is making his return as the Green Goblin in the pages of The Amazing Spider-Man #850. This marks the first time that Osborn has appeared as the character since issue #800, which was released back in 2015.
The news was first teased by Marvel Comics Executive Editor Nick Lowe on Twitter. He shared two ominous quotes that signaled something was coming. Have a look.

“How long have we tormented one another, Peter? I call you a fool, you call me a madman,” the first tweet reads. “I take someone you love, you lock me up. It’s a vicious cycle, little spider,” the second states.
As many fans speculated, this indeed signaled the return of Norman Osborn. The super-sized issue pairs writer Nick Spencer and artists Ryan Ottley, Humberto Ramos and Mark Bagley. They will be joined by what Marvel calls “a veritable Hall of Fame of Spider-Creators to chronicle this climactic chapter in the wall crawler’s years-long conflict with the Goblin-masked madman.” The Amazing Spider-Man #850 will also feature a collection of prestige short stories by Tradd Moore, Kurt Busiek, Chris Bachalo, Aaron Kuder, and Saladin Ahmed!
“This is maybe the most action-packed and harrowing issue of AMAZING SPIDER-MAN ever!” Lowe said. “There are so many twists and turns and Spidey has never had his back up against a wall like this before.”
Marvel also revealed some cover art for the issue. It features not only the Green Goblin, but a collection of Spider-Man’s greatest foes in the background, with Spider-Man swinging out in front.
InHyuk Lee also took to Twitter to reveal some promo art, which will also be included as one of the variant covers.

Green Goblin first appeared in The Amazing Spider-Man #14 and has remained a staple in the hero’s rogues gallery ever since. Norman Osborn has remained a staple of the Marvel Comics universe over the years. Aside from the Green Goblin, he has taken on many roles, including that of Iron Patriot. But Osborn will always be synonymous with the classic villain.
The Amazing Spider-Man #850 hits shelves in September.
