New Black Adam Trailer Officially Released By Warner Bros.

The hierarchy of power in the DC universe is about to change because a new trailer for Black Adam is here. This movie has been a very long time coming, with Dwayne The Rock Johnson first becoming attached to the role back in 2007. But the movie is finally going to be here in a matter of weeks, with Johnson playing the character for the first time ever in live-action. Check it out.

This trailer features a lot more action than even the one that was released during San Diego Comic-Con. We get a little more time with the various members of the Justice Society, as well as more of Black Adam’s overall aggression. The big thing here is that we still haven’t seen much, if anything, from the movie’s main villain. Perhaps the movie is hiding a big surprise in that department? We shall see.

Here is the synopsis for Black Adam.

“In ancient Kahndaq, Teth Adam was bestowed the almighty powers of the gods. After using these powers for vengeance, he was imprisoned, becoming Black Adam. Nearly 5,000 years have passed and Black Adam has gone from man, to myth, to legend. Now released, his unique form of justice, born out of rage, is challenged by modern day heroes who form the Justice Society: Hawkman, Dr. Fate, Atom Smasher and Cyclone.”

Originally, the plan was to have Johnson play the villain in Shazam! However, as the actor’s star power grew, he and Warner Bros. felt it was best to split the movies up. Whether or not Zachary Levi’s Shazam will ever cross paths with Black Adam remains to be seen. We at least know that won’t be happening in Shazam! Fury of the Gods

The cast also includes Aldis Hodge (One Night in Miami) as Hawkman, Noah Centineo (To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before) as Atom Smasher, Quintessa Swindell (Voyagers, Trinkets) as Cyclone and Pierce Brosnan (Goldeneye) as Dr. Fate as the Justice Society. Sarah Shahi (Rush Hour 3), Marwan Kenzari (Murder on the Orient Express, The Mummy), Mo Amer (Mo, Ramy) and Bodhi Sabongui (A Million Little Things) round out the ensemble.

Jaume Collet-Serra (Jungle Cruise) is in the director’s chair. He is working from a screenplay written by Adam Sztykiel, Rory Haines and Sohrab Noshirvani. Beau Flynn, Hiram Garcia, Johnson and Dany Garcia are on board as producers, with Toby Emmerich, Richard Brener, Dave Neustadter, Chris Pan, Walter Hamada, Adam Schlagman, Geoff Johns, Eric McLeod and Scott Sheldon executive producing.

Black Adam hits theaters on October 21.
