Those who have been waiting to watch Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings from the comfort of home now have a date to mark on the calendar. The latest entry in the Marvel Cinematic Universe will be streaming on Disney+ on November 12. The date was announced by Disney as part of its first Disney+ Day celebration.
The news was revealed in a press release detailing the happenings for Disney+ Day. The good news for Shang-Chi is that it appears this will be the free to subscribers date. It’s not a Disney+ Premier Access title on that date. Premier Access titles require an additional $29.99 fee to unlock. As was the case with Black Widow.
Here is the synopsis for Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings.
“Marvel Studios’ ‘Shang-Chi and The Legend of The Ten Rings’ stars Simu Liu as Shang-Chi, who must confront the past he thought he left behind when he is drawn into the web of the mysterious Ten Rings organization. The film also stars Tony Leung as Wenwu, Awkwafina as Shang-Chi’s friend Katy and Michelle Yeoh as Jiang Nan, as well as Fala Chen, Meng’er Zhang, Florian Munteanu and Ronny Chieng.”
Also of note for Marvel fans, Disney+ Day will include “A special celebrating the Marvel Cinematic Universe on Disney+ with an exciting look towards the future.” All we can do is speculate as to what that, precisely, will entail. But with shows like Hawkeye and Ms. Marvel, among many others, on the way, there is plenty to showcase. Maybe a first Moon Knight teaser? A first look at She-Hulk?
“The inaugural Disney+ Day will be a grand-scale celebration of our subscribers across the entire company,” said Bob Chapek, Chief Executive Officer, The Walt Disney Company. “This day of appreciation brings to life our mission to entertain, inform, and inspire fans and families around the globe through the power of unparalleled storytelling, and will become an annual tentpole event to be amplified across our global businesses.”
Shang-Chi has been doing quite well at the box office ever since it hit theaters earlier this month. Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, it has already sailed past the $300 million mark worldwide. It should easily pass the $400 million mark by the time it arrives on Disney+. That also means it will have earned more than Black Widow.
Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings is in theaters now.
