The wait is now over - the deal between Disney and Fox has been approved by the shareholders! And this mean that Marvel has now the rights to all Fantastic Four and X-Men related characters!
The rumours that Disney will acquire 21st Century Fox film division began spreading about a year ago. But, at that moment, this was just wishful thinking of comic book movie fans. However, it became quickly official, with a huge sum paid by the Mouse House.
Of course, the X-Men and the Fantastic Four were just a part of the deal - and one might say that it wasn't the most important. Such a deal would have brought numerous titles to Disney, including in here behemoths such as Avatar.
And the Avatar franchise is particularly interesting, not just because the first movie is now the highest grossing film of all times. Disney also sees the possibility of World of Pandora theme parks, which would be more profitable than the movies.
Furthermore, the deal was also supposed to include the shares to Sky, Star India, and others.
And now the deal is all but finalized! After receiving the approval of the U.S. Department of Justice and after beating Comcast's bid, Disney has secured the votes of the shareholders! The announcement of the $71.3 billion merger was made today!
It is expected that the documents will be ready by June next year. This is even better news for Disney, who also intends to launch its own streaming service next year.
But, for comic book movie fans, this deal means that, finally, the MCU will welcome all of its heroes (there are still those owned by Sony, but…)! Sure, it will take time for the X-Men and the Fantastic Four to arrive on the big screens. But, given Infinity War's ending and the presumed time-travel/dimension-hopping plot of the next film, the mutants and Marvel's First Family will certainly find their way!
