X-Men: Dark Phoenix will hit the theaters in around ten months, but 21st Century Fox launched the movie’s marketing campaign a few weeks ago with the release of some really cool photos. And more recently, the studio followed up with some additional photos, which have since made their way online.
Empire Magazine has this latest bunch of still-unreleased X-Men: Dark Phoenix photos. However, thanks to ComicBookMovie, we have scanned versions to show you, including one that gives us a glimpse of Jean Grey (Sophie Turner) as she turns to the dark side. Check it out!
Of course, we’ll have to wait until the studio officially releases a high-quality photo to really savor the image. The other pics might be different, though, as they’re more interpretive than the Jean Grey shot.
In the first, Turner's mutant shares a romantic moment with Tye Sheridan's Scott Summers, aka Cyclops. It’s safe to say that their romance will escalate before Jean transforms into Dark Phoenix in Simon Kinberg's directorial debut.
Another photo shows Michael Fassbender's Erik Lehnsherr, aka Magneto, flat on his back as a couple of guys attempt to collar him. The mutant appears to be bruised and bloodied, but it's not clear whether he’s unconscious or dead.
One of the previously released shots showed several mutants at a funeral, so it's possible that Magneto will perish at some point during X-Men: Dark Phoenix. In my opinion, it's highly unlikely that Fox would give away such a big spoiler this early. It feels more like a deliberate misdirection.
The next photo offers a new look at Jessica Chastain's mysterious character. The shape-shifting big baddie and Charles Xavier (James McAvoy), aka Professor X, are eyeballing one another, and Xavier appears to be a bit unsettled in comparison with Chastain’s character.
