Lex Luthor and Queen Hippolyta Confirmed for Justice League!

After watching Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, we speculated that Jesse Eisenberg's Lex Luthor would return in next year's Justice League. But we had to wait until June for the actor to admit that he would appear in the November 17, 2017 release. However, since we’ve seen certain roles scrapped from movies in the past (take Tom Hiddleston's Loki in Avengers: Age of Ultron as an example), we were still in need of an official confirmation from Warner Bros. And now, we finally have it!

The studio recently sent out its 2017 movie preview press kit (via Batman News), which announces Eisenberg as a Justice League cast member. But the disclosure that might be more interesting is that Connie Nielsen will be reprising Queen Hippolyta from Patty Jenkins' Wonder Woman in the upcoming Zack Snyder flick. We had no clue about this piece of information! This might also mean that a certain portion of the movie will take place in Themyscira.

While Eisenberg and Nielsen have been included in the Justice League cast list – along with Ben Affleck (Batman), Henry Cavill (Superman), Amy Adams (Lois Lane), Gal Gadot (Wonder Woman), Willem Dafoe (Nuidis Vulko), Jeremy Irons (Alfred Pennyworth), Diane Lane (Martha Kent), and J.K. Simmons (Commissioner Jim Gordon) – a few names seem to be missing. Those names are Amber Heard (Mera), Ciarán Hinds (Steppenwolf), Joe Manganiello (Deathstroke), and Kiersey Clemons (Iris West).

Another interesting thing about the press kit is that it credits Chris Terrio not only for story and screenplay, but also as an executive producer of Justice League, along with Jim Rowe, Wesley Coller, Curt Kanemoto, and Ben Affleck. We hadn't heard about this added duty for the Academy Award winning scribe before. Charles Roven and Deborah Snyder are credited as producers, as are DC Films co-heads Jon Berg and Geoff Johns.

Check out the official synopsis for the movie below!

Fueled by his restored faith in humanity and inspired by Superman's selfless act, Bruce Wayne enlists the help of his newfound ally, Diana Prince, to face an even greater enemy. Together, Batman and Wonder Woman work quickly to find and recruit a team of metahumans to stand against this newly awakened threat. But despite the formation of this unprecedented league of heroes – Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg, and The Flash – it may already be too late to save the planet from an assault of catastrophic proportions.
