Justice League: The King Beyond The Wall is Steppenwolf

Everyone knows that Steppenwolf is the upcoming Justice League’s main villain. While many believed that it would either be Darkseid or Brainiac confronting the DC superheroes in their first big screen ensemble movie, Zack Snyder surprised everybody with this choice. The character first appeared in a Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice deleted scene, having been contacted by Lex Luthor himself. The scene was released online as soon as the movie made its debut and was included in the extended cut on Blu-ray.

And it was quite a surprising choice, given the many hints the director left throughout the theatrical cut. Which explained the disappointment of some of the fans.

The Wrap now reports that Ciarán Hinds was cast in the role, and he has already finished shooting his motion capture scenes. Hinds has appeared in quite a few movies to date. His most memorable roles are as Mance Rayder, The King Beyond the Wall in the Game of Thrones series, and as Dumbledore's brother in the last Harry Potter film.

The actor appeared in Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance as Roarke (better known as Mephistopheles), having replaced Peter Fonda after the first Ghost Rider film.

Of course, this news should be taken with a grain of salt, since nobody involved in the making of Justice League has confirmed the casting. Furthermore, The Wrap also notes that the character's appearance has been upgraded, meaning that Steppenwolf won't look like the alien we saw in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.

It shouldn't surprise anybody, therefore, that this is a motion capture role.

So what do you think? Is Ciarán Hinds our Steppenwolf? If he is, we believe that this was a good choice.
