The first season of Loki premiered in 2021 as one of the first big live-action Marvel Cinematic Universe shows made for Disney+. It was preceded only by WandaVision and The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. It also brought Hiddleston back as Loki following the events of Avengers: Endgame, paying off the scene of him escaping with the Tesseract during the time heist. As for what’s in store this season? Loki now knows about He Who Remains, aka Kang, which means big things for the MCU as a whole.
Here is the synopsis for Loki season 2.
“Loki Season 2 picks up in the aftermath of the shocking season finale when Loki finds himself in a battle for the soul of the Time Variance Authority. Along with Mobius, Hunter B-15, and a team of new and returning characters, Loki navigates an ever-expanding and increasingly dangerous Multiverse in search of Sylvie, Judge Renslayer, Miss Minutes, and the truth of what it means to possess free will and glorious purpose.”
2023 has been a little light on MCU shows compared to 2021 and 2022. Marvel Studios is course-correcting a little bit, making sure not to overdo it in that department. This year also saw the release of Secret Invasion, which wrapped up over the summer. Next up is the Hawkeye spin-off Echo, which premieres in January of next year. We’ve also got What If…? season 2, Agatha: Darkhold Diaries, Ironheart and Daredevil: Born Again in the pipeline.
Justin Benson, Aaron Moorhead, Dan Deleeuw and Kasra Farahani direct the new season, with Eric Martin serving as the head writer. Benson and Moorhead also directed episodes of Moon Knight. The cast also includes Sophia Di Martino, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Wunmi Mosaku, Eugene Cordero, Rafael Casal, Tara Strong, Kate Dickie, Liz Carr, Neil Ellice, with Jonathan Majors, Ke Huy Quan and Owen Wilson. Kevin Feige, Stephen Broussard, Louis D’Esposito, Victoria Alonso, Brad Winderbaum, Kevin R. Wright, Hiddleston, Benson, Moorhead, Martin, Michael Waldron and Trevor Waterson are on board as executive producers.
Loki season 2 airs Thursdays on Disney+.
